A Note from the Choir Loft
Hi,
Ever since I started playing music in church, about 26 years ago, it has been my tradition to provide a Christmas concert every year using musicians involved in weekly parish music ministry. When I began my time at TICC in August of 2020 we were still following COVID social distancing guidelines and just beginning to venture out again. When COVID cases began to spike again that fall, and social distancing requirements became stricter, it became clear to me that I would not be able to plan a Christmas concert knowing that we could go into another shutdown.
I got the idea to do a “Virtual Christmas Concert.” I asked all our singers and pianists who barely knew me at the time, to participate. They gave me funny looks (I don’t blame them!) but generously agreed to do a solo or duet, piano solo and participate in a choral selection. Because of social distancing guidelines we had to record video and audio separately, including the choral parts. This was my first and only attempt at a huge project like this and I was very pleased with the results. If you would like to see it, it can be seen here: https://youtu.be/mo4SUMR6Hgg?si=qO3pdrhAlPMLnoKR I’m still waiting for the Oscar nod!
I am pleased and excited to announce that the TICC music ministry will give a Christmas concert on Sunday, December 20, 2026, at 3 pm at St Ann Church. I know that 12/20 is very close to Christmas and life will be extra busy for all of us at that time but I hope you will take an opportunity to hear our incredibly talented musicians perform.
It is my plan to get back to doing this every year.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
